At night, around 9pm, our flatmates planned to have a gathering coz all of us gonna separated soon..Yet, what is interesting is they gave me a wonderful surprise…initially I suspected some suspicious acts from Ivy & Wyne…But then I didn’t bother that much though, when Wyne asked me to go out the room, I just followed without having a second thought of what is gonna happen. When I placed my 1st step on the dining hall, all my flatmates sang me the bday song with a bday cake lit up with 20 candles on the table….really surprise me though…Thanks to Ivy, Lom Ang, San, Off, Li Hui, Ummy, Alfan and of coz my dearest roomie, Wyne! It’s a simple butter cake with icing on it…Yummy yummy! They oso bought the Hookey Pokey ice-cream…delicious NZ famous ice-cream… Really thanks to them for being so lovely!

I paused at one page, telling wyne dat the style of dress up for the model on dat page was nice..all of a sudden, she walked to me with her camera on video recording mode, telling me that she had bought me a bday present,which is bout the same style of mini skirt like on d model of the page...omg...indeed, i get so surprised!!! i was of coz hapi! hehe but still i say i will open up the present on my bday...haha sweet roomie indeed! thanks ya,WYNE!!! muax muax=)
Next, our plan for the day was to make a scarf our ownself with the knit- thread v bought dat day at $2 shop...

at 1st, v plan to get a robe of thread lying on the floor with 6 rows...

then v started to use another robe of thread to 'cross over' the 1st robe of thread in zig zag form...one up another down...and it continues...

(half way thru...20 percent)

Random- 28th May 07

Up and down for the week~*
Sunday morning, I went to the sunday market..as usual, people from all walks of life, white,black,asian,kiwis...all dropped by the market to get their groceries for the week... As I am busy looking around for cheap deals, from far i saw an old man pushing a trolley...ntg interesting though with an old man..yet what is interesting is inside the trolley there were a few cute & adorable puppies...white fluffy small puppies..In a short time, the puppies become the main attraction of the day! The crowd squealed with delight when they saw the CUTE doggie..hehe:)

Monday...as usual i attended my econs lecture at MCLT 101...gotten a place,sat down,claz started...i did not pay attention to wat the lecturer said as it was really boring...Halfway though, all in a sudden, a guy walked into the lecture theatre, the whole claz looked at him astonishingly, wondering what dis guy gonna do with a bunch of flower in his hand...a moment later,he asked the lecturer, is (the gal name) here? he caught sight of dat gal in a few seconds,he walked up to the her seat,presented her the flower,wishing her happy 18th birthday... isnt it sweet? =) without knowing wat happen,the whole lecture broke into loud applause...even the lecturer commented that it was very nice indeed..hahaXD the gal's face turns red immediately...
well,it was lovely...really sweet...

Wednesday...received a sudden shock as i got a letter from my uni hall saying that all of us who live at 76 Fairlie Terrace need to move out as uni is gonna build a new hall of residence bside my hse...all of us were terribly shocked after v got the news..it was really sad as all of us are really close buddies now, we are so unwilling to be separated...all of us started to grumble, it is so troublesome to move to a new place and v nid to adjust ourselves to a new place again..sigh..it is such a sad case...
Faith bring us together, tight bonds make us cherish for one another...now v hav no choice but to say goodbye, no matter what happen, I wish u ALL THE BEST!, my fellow flatmates...

Thursday of the week...jz booked my air ticket bck to m'sia with STA Travel...so hapi..looking 4ward to go home soon...5 more months to go before i can go bck to my beloved country,my home....

Saturday...bz studying for coming exam...suddenly a knock on my room door, curiously,i open d door, Off passed me a yellow envelope, telling me its my mail...Once i look at the handwriting in the envelope, I was so surprised that its a bday card from my bro fr spore! wowo...din expected that it came to me so early...I was so hapi,jumping up n down with my lovely bday card...hehe =) thanks alot ya, bro N sis-in-law! got ur wish n hope to c u all soon~

Trips around Wellington

Around Wellington...
went to visit Old St. Paul..It is believed to be the most breathtaking beautiful church in NZ. Wellington most famous tourist attraction - A New Zealand's icon - unique Gothic Church which has 100 yrs of history - constructed entirely from native timbers, the interior is enhanced by exquisite stained glass windows as well as stunning wood carvings. It has also named as the most romantic church, thus a well-loved venue for weddings, concerts and recitals...

--> at the nave of Old St. Paul

--> magnificent interior stained-glass windows

--> the pulpit - carved English oak commemorates Premier Richard John Seddon

--> The Baptismal Font

--> the church exterior

After taking lotsa pics at St Paul, we popped in to the Archives New Zealand. It was boring though as we were not that interested in looking the Treaty of Waitangi.

>> With Elun & poh Yee at Archives NZ

>> Still in Archives- snapshot with excellent artwork

After having lunch at Subway,we headed to Parliament Tour~*

Before heading into the noble Parliment building, I grab the chance to snap pic with the Beehive which on the left and Parliament House at the back, New Zealand Flag and the Statue of Richard John Seddon- PM of NZ fr 1893 to 1906.

Photography is not permitted inside the Parliament Buildings. Yet, I still managed to take one pic at the foyer..hehe

Before the tour began, we watched a short video about the refurbishment of the Parliament Buildings at the Main Foyer of the Beehive. The Beehive ,formally known as the Executive Wing, housing the Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers. This building is represented as the Beehive to show the hard work and courteous effort carried out by the Ministers. These actions indirectly posses similar traits like the bee which is crowded as the most hard-working insects and loaded with integrity and highly efficient...

Some of the main highlights in the Parliament Buildings:
* The Maori Affairs Committee Room ( Maui- Tikitiki- a - Taranga). Here you are able to find remarkable carvings and weavings specially commissioned in this room. All in different styles of the iwi (tribes) of New Zealand. A Unique feature to the Parliament!
*Debating Chamber - magnificent indeed!
*Galleria Artwork - an open courtyard prior to the refurbishment project- various piece of artwork could be seen from the Galleria roof trusses to the marble walls. The creative artwork combines a number of media - dyed and hand-painted canvas, ceramics, metalwork and embroidery. Ribbons of different designs varies from country to country are hanged at the top of the Mooring Stone.
*The Speakers' Corridor- along the walls are photographs of past PM of NZ
*Stair seven- Titled Relationships - this hanging combines traditional Maori flax weaving and European wool embroidery, featuring a border native NZ flowers, the Rata, the work incorporates pics of past events and traditions for NZ
* The Grand Hall
*significant displays of historic objects and unique design of doorway and chamber

All these provide beneficial insights... as you are able to get a better understanding of the working environment in the Parliament, the history of Parliament Buildings as well as the detail of the restoration work and care done to strengthen the buildings against earthquakes...etc...

--> Posing with statue of John Ballance - early eminent Member of Parliament and PM from 1891 to 1893

Next, we went to another church - Basilica Cathedral

the interior of the church give u the impression of white, clean, noble and purity...

Our next stop is Te Papa national museum...
Te papa is recognised as a world leader in the new wave of innovative and interactive museum experiences...That day we went there is a special exhibition entitled Egypt- Beyond the Tomb. This exhibition is great indeed where you can see over 200 ancient Egyptian burial treasures for the perilous journey to the afterlife. This includes the mummy and intricately decorated coffin of Keku, an Egyptian woman who lived 2700 years ago....Beyond the Tomb, you will gain extra knowledge and wonderful experience!

Botanic Garden

Hooray~~~~! Easter break began!

Abandoned my blog for some time, now its time for me to update my blog again…

My easter break began with a visit to Wellington Botanic Garden. It is known as New Zealand’s jewels and rated as a Garden of National Significance. Around 11.30 am, we – Wyne, Wan Ling, Elun & me began our journey. At the cable car entrance, we could have a breathtaking view of the whole city. After grabbing myself a map, we began to explore this beautiful botanic garden with full enthusiasm. Luckily, the weather was pretty nice, not too cold nor too hot, with a little bit of sunshine compensated with some cooling breeze…As we stepped further into the garden, it’s undeniably a haven for those who wanna escaped from hustle and bustle of city life. The atmosphere here is indeed appealing with so many green lush bushes along the path and a wide array of colourful flowers welcome u along the way, presenting a picture of wonderland which is free from tension and distress, perfect place for relaxation. hehe =p Our first stop is at the Australian Garden. Yet, disappointedly, there are not much exotic plants we could observe. Further down, along the way, we are mesmerized by some of the unique plants and exotic tree branches. Next, we headed the Succulent Garden. Here we could catch sight of cactus and other various types of succulent plants. We also came across Fern Garden before we reached the Fragrance Garden. By the time you reach this area, the ambiance is totally different where you are embraced by the pleasant smell from the white lilies, red roses and purple lavenders. It’s really a delightful experience as you can’t have it back in Malaysia. In the botanical garden itself, besides usual stuff like flora and fauna, it is surprisingly that there are some artworks and statues to be observed. The first art piece we came across is Centennial Sundial. It’s like a globe where it has some time indication on it. In fact, it is a gift from Wellington City Council to commemorate a century of management of the Garden. The next stop we reached was the Main Garden where we could see the colourful seasonally changing floral displays and the Joy Fountain in the middle. Besides, we could see some special genetics of flowers like the “Tower of London” has purple petals inside of its red petals and “ Ballet girl” has petals of mixture colours of red and white. Unique isn’t it? It has been dubbed that these lovely flowers display have been made up to become a lively ruby ‘necklace’! truly amazing.. So, I suggested to those of you who come to Wellington must visit this garden… After taking lots and lots of photos, we walked up to the Herb Garden. Various kinds of plants here are labeled with its medication purposes.

The next stop we hanged on is the award-winning Lady Norwood Rose Garden. It is truly a legend, with so many beds of red, pink, yellow, purple and white roses tidily well-groomed and systematically arranged in a round shape. In the middle, there is a fountain and a duck pond where you can see few ducks swimming happily around. Next to the Rose Garden is the Begonia and Lily House. In this house, it contains tropical and temperate floral displays. As you walked in the transparent glass made house, u will get the chance to have an unsurpassed view of vibrant displays of almost all kinds of flora and fauna. Tropical plants like orchids and hibiscus are found too but the hibiscus seems bit skinny compared to m’sia ‘s hibiscus…haha.. Mostly all the flowers are so NICE till I wonder are these flower fake?… Hehe =p
Later on, we moved on to the Waterfall and Peace Flame section. Peaceful and tranquility are the words that best fit here. The main feature here is the Peace Flame- the white sculpture situated in front of the waterfall. It’s presented by the Japanese to NZ in salute to this country to halt the spread of atomic weapons. As we moved ahead, we came across a black granite staircase named Body to Soul. This staircase was designed in13 steps engraved with a word sequence BODY to SOUL. A creative masterpiece indeed! The final artwork we came across is Inner Form. It was presented to the city under the Arts Bonus Scheme.

An exciting trip!
