Goodbye my frenz

Till when i m reading on nix sun's personal msg on msn, i realise stg bad happen...
Although I was once ur clazmate...
I wasnt that close to u...
just rmb there is this gentleman sitting at the back row of mine...
u seldom talk to me..
but one thing nvr goes wrong is the 24 hr smile u hav on ur face...showing how optimistic u are...
I was reading nix sun journal before turning over your blog entries...
Nix sun description abt u is truly touching
whereas..
your writings make me weep...
We were all saddened that leukemia took you away..
I truly respect the courageous you hav put into this battle...
For evy single pain & suffering u hav gone thru all these years, not only u didnt give in..but there u are, staying bold n optismistic...
The spirit that u hav shall alwiz be the inspiring force to those who hav suffered similar fates..
That makes me thought for a while life is not long but fragile...
we shall cherish evy single moment we have and no arresting shall be given to the vast wheel of time...
May u rest in peace, Ju Liang~

The Southeast Asian Night Market

Its holiday!

Just hav my 225 paper on las friday...well,it dint turn out well since i hav screwed it up..I feeling feverish when i m answering those ques.. i get bit mad on myself since the fever make my brain go blank...sigh...was disappointed after the test..

straight after test, went to the full dress rehearsal at kelburn. I felt relieved for the cultural committee since all the costumes hav finally arrived. Previously I still rmb how wori the cultural committee are with the hassle n delays on the costumes from Malaysia...but we were all thankful that all of it managed to reach just right on time, 1 day before the big event - first ever Southeast Asian Night Market arrived at Wellington. Although it said that it's a night market, but it is held indoor...funny huh..but i guess since its winter, no1 will ever willing to come to this event if it's held outdoor...

My mood on that day was still 'sunny' as the weather wasnt too cold. I m really hapi that I get the chance to wear 3 different costumes although i need to keep on changing oufit time to time. I was really surprised that the respond for this event was really overwhelming. I nvr imagine that the queue can be so long which could form almost a circle in front of tsb arena. No joke. its real.
the 1st dance for M'sia kick off at 2.30pm with Inang renek, Datun Julut n Mangunatip. As this is the 1st time i m performing for Datun Julut, I was really nervous though...i still rmb how trembling i was when i stepped up on the stage..gosh can feel me so shaky even though i was trying to conceal it with my smile. but somehow,i think v did well =)
Our costumes are attractive, dont u think so? so colourful...hehehe
Before the performance, taken together with Mangunatip dancers...

during the dance...that is the only pic taken..:p

after the dance, all of the dancers for the 1st slot..
with Poon & wyne!
After the first slot of Malaysian performance, since its still early for me for another round of performance, wyne & I decided to go out jalan-jalan, to cari makan n feel the heat! hehe we decided not to change our Datun Julut costume too n I think our decision is right. As we are walking around the place, in a way we are promoting Malaysia too. Our costumes are too colourful to caught the attention of most of the crowd. Many people did approached us n complimenting on our charming costumes... for this, credit should be given to Abg Rudy n the Sarawk govt=)

there is this cute lil gal request to hav a touch on our costumes, so v decided to take a pic with her...*grins*
later, meet up with ck n vivian...
then found out this ===> Beca- the only display item in front of the entrance..hehe
with the whole batch of frenz...thanks for coming!=)

What unexpected was we met the high commissioner in random. he was really hapi that he finally got the chance to see the beautiful outfits posted from m'sia.

As a way to showcase this lovely Malaysia costumes, he even requested two of us to walk in front of the vips during the formal opening parade, ushering the NZ minister to the stage..*wink wink* well, at this point, I felt blessed n proud.

While waiting for the food for dancers to come, Wyne & I were so eager to try out other countries food as well. we wanted to buy cendol & ABC but the queue is so looonngg~so end up v bought a slice of kavana cake from Indo, 2 chic vietnam roll, 1 cecodok, n thai green curry. kavana cake looks yummy but was abit tasteless whereas thai green curry taste turn out to be delicious ;)

The 2nd slot for Malaysian performance began around 7.25pm, with the combination of malay, chinese and indian dance. this time i wasnt that nervous compared to the first slot. probably this is not the 1st time i was performing chinese dance, so has much more confidence on it=) although there is some minor mistakes almost reaching the end, but somehow ppl dun really notice it...i hope.. :P zapin rajuk and indian dance were all good as well. the wound on my leg was bleeding again after the chinese dance..but i m glad dat it bleeds after dance ;)
okay, these are some of snapshots before the dance:

with elun...i think this pic looks good!
with Wyne...we two look so chinese..ok, i know i m talking nonsense...

the group pic of chinese dancers - wyne,me, dali, iqa, yuyu, iynas, ida n najwa - good job gals!

during the dance...
After the dance, back to changing room...
stil dun wan miss out taking pics with the indian group dancers...

We caught a glimpse on thai dancers..i like the head gear they are wearing...hehe

third slot of dance began with the energetic contemporary dance - Arus at 9pm. Although i did not got the chance to join into, but still Arus is my all time favourite =)

Right after the multicultural performance, its time for the fashion show. Each country has their own beautiful models wearing their traditional costumes. I m glad to be part of it. Thanks iynas for that ;) The m'sia representatives - we have wyne & iqa wearing traditional sabah n s'wak costumes while me n poki wearing baju kebaya n bj melayu. although there is some similar traits between our costumes with other countries, but thankfully there is not exactly the same one. All models have been elegantly on stage. I m sure we, as the m'sia model did our best too! we are proud to be the beautiful Asians =))

some random shoot before the catwalk.... thanks to irin for lovely kebaya=)
iqa with the s'wak costumes, Anna, sporean with the Portugis costumes n me in baju kebaya..
Me in the catwalk...
the four models salam-ing...
with indo n philipines pretties~~
thai on the left, followed by spore...
catching Vietnam costumes!
its four of us again! we were joyous for the show=)

Although I was tired at the end of the day, being part of it is such a bless for me..

Bravo to all dancers who hav work hard to put up a good show=) the time n effort v spent on practicing, refining the steps, all hav contribute to a good performance! Thanks to the cultural committee, Iynas, Palie & Ila for their commitment for managing the event successfully. Not to 4gt, sincere thanks to Abg Rudy who has sacrifice so much from cheoreographing our dance till preparing all our costumes and accesories back in m'sia.. Much appreciated=) we were sori for some of the silly mistake in wearing the costumes for zapin rajuk dancers...hehe we will ensure there will be no mistake on m'sian nite.

Thanks to Elun for all the wonderful pictures! n to Wan Ling for video-ing all the m'sia performance! tq so much~ to those who hav helped out, being the volunteer n helper at the bckstage, those who opened up the food stalls n those hav participate in the traditional games, good job! we hav make m'sia proud ;)

Olympic 2008

China proudly presents to you Olympic 2008 =))
With such glam event dated 08.08.2008,
i hav no regret for sacrificing my beauty sleep to watch the opening ceremony via live broadcast (thankfully tv one nz provide such services...)
Frankly, I am truly amazed by such fabulous opening ceremony held at Beijing this yr... I assure you...those who miss it, u shall regret... the set up is beyond description...such super grand event shall nvr be missed...Too Awesome indeed! this yr ceremony was indeed different, colourful and splendid!
I truly admired those n salute them who came out with such creative ideas that connects the whole programme flow of the ceremony...
with the lucky number of 8, Olympic 2008 choose to held its opening ceremony at 08.08.2008 at the time of 08.08pm...sounds bit supertitious here.. hehe but u know...chinese alwiz like the number of 8 which symbolise the incoming prosperity!
The ceremony kick up with the 2008 performers hitting the ancient chinese percussion instruments... can u imagine there are so many of them hitting the instruments in such synchronised manner, perfect man!

the fireworks are so cool as well...nver 4gt that china is famous with its creation of gunpowder! with the bird nest stadium was specifically built in the same line with the Forbidden City and the Tianan men Square, the firework in a series of 'footprints' began with the 1st 'footstep' from the forbidden city (cant believe the firework design is a footprint! SO COOL la!) till the 29th footprint 'firework' ended up at The Bird Nest Stadium.. WHy there is 29? bcoz its 29th Opympic Games this yr...

The 'footprints' changed into cluster of falling stars which gather to form the olympic rings.

The whole ceremony depicts the history of China in 15 mins. Added up with the advanced technology of laser, the whole thing is reflected perfectly... Especially the part when a large scroll opened up in the middle of the stadium which represents Papermaking is one of the big invention of China!

n follow up with the performance to symbolise the movable type printing which creates fonts of chinese character 2day,

the Silk Road which represents the important passage of economic and cultural exchange between China and western countries, the story of Cheng Ho voyage to the west, create Maritime Silk ROute...

With so many colourful attires presenting by the performers, the whole arena is full of ambiance, spirit and happiness! All things appears to be so large scale in that ceremony, the tons of people doing the kung fu performance, the dancers doing various traditional dances n acrobatic, the people formation of pyramid!

Confucius's 3,000 disciples

the graceful dancer=)

Tai ji's performance again presented by 2008 performers

the People formation which later 'transform' into small scale of Bird Nest Stadium

The elevating globe which took a yr to complete. As you noticed, there are very brave performers performing various stunts around the globe...fantastic! On top of the globe standing the 2 famous singer Sarah Brightman and Liu Huan singing the Olympic song: You ANd Me

This yr the sequences for parade of contingent goes according to the chinese characters of each country's name..

The lighting of torch was lead by China's gymnast, bringing the torch 'floating', bringing the torch go around the stadium till finally the Huge torch is lit up!

I heard there are lots more entertaining performance after that but TV one at Nz just broadcast till 4.30am ...so sad of missing out that...

I salute the person who organise this! Looking at me, for just a M'sian Nite, i ady finding hard to get evythg on track...i cant imagine a big event like this which took how much preparation, commitment, people, ideas, sweats n tears which eventually make this whole thing come true! perhaps i shud emulate their spirit hidden within such successful event~ =)
